Aphelios is lean and muscular with pale skin. He has several purple tattoos along his body, consisting of a crescent shape over his right eye and forehead, a stripe from his bottom lip to his collarbone, moon phases down his spine, two crescent shapes along scars under his pectorals, and two bands across each upper arm below a crescent moon. His body is littered with various scars collected over the course of his life, either from training or on his missions.
He has short black hair with long, side-swept bangs. There is a stubborn cowlick that often sits atop the back of his head. His eyes are a deep, nearly-black purple. Whilst poisoned with noctum, channeling his twin's magic, they become a light blue.
Aphelios' typical attire consists of several layers to combat Targon's freezing climate. He wears a plain black sweater with a high collar beneath blue ceremonial robes. A long silk scarf drapes off of his shoulders, embroidered with various Lunari markings. A large gold necklace hangs around his neck, with a similar bracelet around his left wrist, both of religious significance.
Aphelios and his twin Alune were born among the Lunari during a rare lunar event in which the moon of the spirit realm eclipsed the moon of the physical realm. They were heralded as children of destiny, Alune gifted with magical prowess, and Aphelios, physical strength. The pair dedicated their life to honing their abilities in order to serve and protect their people.
Aphelios is quiet and reserved by nature. Between this and the little spare time at his disposal, he never made many connections aside from the close bond he had with his sister. As the pair gradually spent more time apart due to their respective duties, his faith began to waver. His answer would come when he departed on a spiritual journey-- known to the Lunari as "seeking out one's orbit"-- and came across a pool of noctum flowers. Their petals may be used to craft a poison, one that the Lunari believe to open one to the night's power upon consuming it.
The poison's purpose would soon be revealed with the arrival of a crucial ceremony. An ancient temple would soon phase into the physical realm from the spiritual to accept a single magically-gifted inhabitant. Alune was chosen for this rite, and many Lunari gathered for the event, Aphelios included. As Alune made her way through the temple, disaster struck; an army of Solari descended upon the gathering of Lunari. The ensuing clash was disastrous, and Aphelios himself lay defeated, resorting to consuming the noctum's poison.
As he was enveloped by the ensuing agony, he felt his twin's magic embrace him, pushing a moonstone weapon into his hands. The poison acted as a conduit, allowing Alune to commune with him and send him weapons from within the ancient temple. None of the Solari present that day were left alive.
Present day, Aphelios continues devoting his life to protecting the Lunari in a quest to restore their former glory.

SETT
Aphelios met the pit boss in Ionia whilst searching for Diana. The pair get along well and appear to enjoy each other's company. |
While not under the effects of noctum, he fights with a pair of identical moonstone blades.
After ingesting the poison, Aphelios gains access to an arsenal of moonstone weapons, sent to him by Alune from the spirit realm. Each artifact is tied to a celestial being that is worshiped in the Marus Omegnum. He typically only holds up to two at a time, and once a weapon has been depleted of its energy, Alune phases it out of his hands and back into the spirit realm.
Calibrum | A long-range rifle capable of shooting bolts of energy from far distances.
Severum | A scythe pistol that inflicts slashes on opponents from a range. The strikes drain the target of their life force, capable of magically sealing Aphelios' own wounds in return.
Gravitum | A cannon whose bolts are capable of manipulating gravity. It ejects projectiles in the form of twin spiralling orbs that circle their target upon impact. This has the effect of increasing gravity upon them, and at Aphelios' command, he may temporarily root them in place.
Infernum | A heavy artifact capable of spewing blue flames. It has the potential to inflict widespread devastation upon crowds of enemies.
Crescendum | A boomerang-like weapon that returns to Aphelios upon being thrown. It is capable of duplicating upon hitting its targets, its clones hovering around Aphelios until the blade is again thrown, where they will follow and bombard the target. |
